국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 스토리텔링을 활용한 지리활동이 유아의 지리개념 발달에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위하여 M시에 위치한 유치원의 만 5세 유아 42명을 대상으로 하여 실험집단에는 스토리텔링을 활용한 지리활동을 실시하고, 비교집단에게는 생활주제에 따른 지리교육활동을 하였다. 2016년 5월 16일부터 6월 24일까지 6주에 걸쳐 주 2회 총 12회 진행되었으며 수집된 자료는 SPSS 20.0프로그램을 사용하여 t검증을 통해 효과를 알아보았다. 연구결과 실험집단이 비교집단보다 유아의 지리 개념 전체 및 하위영역별 발달에서 통계적으로 유의미한 향상이 나타났다. 이는 유아 지리교육에서 스토리텔링이 교수학습방법으로서 교육적 의의가 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study examined the effect of geography activities using storytelling on young children s geography concepts. For this study, 42 five-year-old were chosen and randomly divided equally into and experimental and comparison group. Data from the results of pre-and post-test were analyzed with t-verification using SPSS 20.0 program. Finding are as follows. There were statistical significant differences between experimental group and comparison group in total geography concept of young children and sub- factors; direction and position, maps, areas where children live, geographic environment and coping, compliance. Therefore, geography activities using storytelling provide meaningful alternative teaching methods.
