유아교육기관의 물리적, 학습적 교실환경과 유아의 일과활동 선호도 간의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아교육기관의 물리적, 학습적 교실환경과 유아의 기관일과활동 선호도 간의 관계를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 서울, 인천, 경기도, 충청도, 경상도에서 표집한 어린이집 6기관과 유치원 15기관 총 21개 기관의 만 5세 유아 255명과 해당 학급교사 21명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석을 위해 t검정, Pearson 상관분석, 단계적 회귀분석(Stepwise)을 실시하였으며, 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 물리적 환경이 좋은 집단의 유아들이 그렇지 못한 집단의 유아들보다 개인 동적 활동을 제외한 모든 활동에 대해 더 높은 선호도를 보였고, 학습적 환경 역시 우수한 집단에 속한 유아들이 모든 종 류의 일과활동에 대해 더 높은 선호도를 보였다. 둘째, 물리적, 학습적 교실환경과 유아의 일과활동 선호도의 하위 요인들 간에 정적 상관이 있었다. 셋째, 교실환경의 하위 요인들이 유아의 기관일과활동 선호도에 미치는 영향력을 살펴본 결과, 학습적 환경의 하위 요인인 ‘유아의 선택기회’가 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 일과활동의 종류에 따라 ‘교수 매체 상태 및 사용’, ‘유아의 선택기회’, ‘교실 분위기’, ‘안전성’ 요인이 유아의 활동 선호도에 차별화된 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 결과는 유아교육기관의 교실환경이 유아들의 일상적인 경험에 직접적인 영향을 미침을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between physical and learning environments of classrooms and the young children’s preferences for daily activities in early childhood institutions. The subjects were totally 255 5-year-olds and 21 teachers from 6 child-care centers or 15 kindergartens located in Seoul, In-cheon, Gyeonggi, Chungcheong and Gyeongsang provinces. According to the results, firstly, children of better classroom environments showed stronger preferences for daily activities than children in poor environments. Secondly, most sub-factors of physical and learning environments of classrooms and children’s preferences for daily activities had significant correlations. Thirdly, ‘Children’s choice opportunities’ was proved to affect their preferences for daily activities in institutions. And differentiated factors such as ‘Status and availability of instructional media’, ‘Children’s choice opportunities’, ‘Classroom atmosphere’, and ‘Safety’ had effects on children’s preferences for each type of daily activities.
