The U.S. entertainment industry has consolidated into media giant groups who own many companies and divisions that can exploit, promote, and advertise a content, a film, a TV program, or a product in multiple users and effectively monetize each content that it creates. The entertainment conglomerates own contents and control the means of distribution and have married both to technology. The entertainment conglomerates continue to acquire and develop companies that can cross-platform all of their products to maximize revenue and to build franchises. They are specialists in vertical integration. Traditional entertainment media are losing consumer reach while new digital entertainment media are becoming the standard. Entertainment companies must make radical changes to deal with new technologies and new demands from the public. The studios are anxiously seeking new revenue-producing media and have set up new media departments. Electronic download or streaming service of films and 3D film can enliven the film industry. Technology is a huge and growing source of revenue for media companies.
