국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 지역사회 무질서, 사회적 유대감, CCTV 효과성 인식 및 범죄 두려움 간에 인과관계가 존재한다는 기존의 선행연구들을 기초로 하여, 지역사회 무질서 및 범죄 두려움 간의 관계에서 사회적 유대감과 CCTV 효과성 인식의 매개효과를 검증하고, 분석 결과에 기초하여 주민들의 범죄 두려움을 감소시키기 위해서 지역사회 무질서를 감소시키고, 사회적 유대감 및 CCTV 효과성 인식 등을 증진시키기 위한 정책적 대안들을 제안하는 것이다. 이 연구를 수행하기 위해서 대전광역시의 5개 구에서 각각 5개 동을 선정한 후, 총 623명에게 지역사회 무질서, 범죄 두려움, 사회적 유대감, CCTV 효과성인식에 관한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 회수한 설문지 623부 중에서 답변을 성실하게 채우지 못해 결측치가 발생한 설문지를 제외하고 611부만을 분석하였다. 이 연구의 분석결과를 정리해 보면, 지역사회 무질서는 사회적 유대감에 부(-)의 유의한 영향을 미치고, 사회적 유대감은 범죄 두려움에 정(+)의 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. CCTV 효과성 인식 또한 범죄 두려움에 부(-)의 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 지역사회 무질서는 범죄 두려움에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났지만, 지역사회 무질서는 사회적 유대감을 매개로 하여 범죄 두려움에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the causal relations among community disorder, fear of crime, social ties, and perception of CCTV effectiveness. Especially, this paper focuses on the mediated effect of social ties and CCTV perception. Questionnaires were administered to analyze citizens’ behavior towards community disorder, fear of crime, social ties, and perception of CCTV effectiveness. Structural equation modeling analysis were adopted for analysis of this paper. This study found community disorder gave negative effects on social ties. And social ties give significant influences on the fear of crime, and the perception of CCTV effectiveness gave negative influences on the fear of crime. Community disorder didn’t give direct influences on the fear of crime. But, the result shows that community disorder has an indirect effect on the fear of crime through the mediating effect of social ties. This study suggests the perception of CCTV effectiveness and physical and social disorder should be improved. To reduce the fear of crime for local residents, it is necessary to expand the recognition widely that CCTV is effective for crime prevention and criminal arrests. For this purpose, government must be able to reduce the fear of crime by making potential criminals recognize the fact that CCTVs are installed and they are likely to be caught when they execute crimes. And when the police crackdown social disorders, it is necessary for them to crackdown with citizen patrol corps. It can make social ties strengthened.
