This study examines how anthropocentric thoughts, arrogance and language affect the ecological environment with an in-depth focus on closely "For a Coming Extinction," "The Last One," and "Fly" among Merwin's ecopoetry. Humans think of themselves as rulers of the earth, and don't try to listen to nature especially when she gives a warning. In fact, we are utterly dependent on nature and subject to its every whim. Merwin emphasizes that we are neither superior nor inferior, we are just a part of the earth. Therefore, we should have ecological consciousness and throw away anthropocentric thoughts, arrogance and language which have caused environmental damage and "de-creation" on the planet. We should try to keep a balance with nature. Merwin recognizes that the ecological threats to the earth and to humanity are very real ones. He is concerned with apocalypse as a destiny we are choosing for ourselves by our own actions
