문장 분석에 기초한 문장 쓰기 교육의 효과 및 문장 구성의 특징 연구 - 대학생 필자의 칼럼 글을 대상으로

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 문법 교육을 바탕으로 하는 문장 분석 교육이 문장 쓰기 교육에 효과적임을 보이는 데 었다. 문장 분석을 위한 문법 교육 내용은, ‘문장의 종류’, ‘문장 성분의 기능’, ‘문법 범주의 기능’, ‘바른 문장 쓰기와 맞춤법’이었다. 학습자들은 문장 분석 과정을 통해 문법에 대한 인식이 긍정적으로 바뀌었고, 좋은 글을 구별할 수 있는 시각을 키울 수 있었으며, 자신의 문장 쓰기 습관을 객관적으로 파악하여 자기 글의 장단점을 알게 되었다. 또한 대학생 필자의 문장 구성의 특징을 알 수 있었다. 문장 분석 항목 중 문장의 특성을 찾는 데 효과가 컸던 것은 ‘문장의 종류’, ‘문장 성분의 기능’, ‘바른 문장 쓰기’였다. 반면, ‘문법범주’와 ‘맞춤법’은 효과가 적었다. 이 연구를 통해 문장 분석을 통해 자기 글의 특징을 밝힐 수 있는 문법 교육이 문장 쓰기 교육에 교육적 효과가 있으며, 학습자 개개인에게 적합한 문장 쓰기 교육이 가능함을 보였다.

영문 초록

This study is designed to reveal the importance of grammar knowledge in writing. By combining grammar knowledge and sentence writing, I open up the possibility for developing an effective teaching method of writing for individual students. Using their acquired grammar knowledge, students can comparatively analyze a good essay and their own writing, and can identify their strength and weakness. For the analysis of each sentence, the students were taught the followings; various types of sentence, properties of phrases, grammar categories and orthography. Among these, sentence types and properties of phrases turned out to play a very important role in effective sentence writing. By doing this, I could quantify each student’s habitual use of certain sentence type in his or her writing, and based upon this an effective sentence writing could be provided. Grammatical categories and orthography, on the other hand, turned out not to be related to effective sentence writing. That is because this study is focused on academic essay, which normally do not employ a wide range of grammatical categories because of the characteristics of its genre. In addition, it turned out that orthography is not essential for good writing, since students can rely on the spelling check function in word process programs.
