Jogakbo (Korean traditional patchwork) is an artwork in which a plane is created by connecting two different lines with a patch. It is an abstract world with beauty which wishes for good luck by completing the needlework stitch by stitch. In this study on hair art works designed using the formative features of jogakbo, the following results were obtained:
First, depending on the shape of jogakbo, square, rectangle, free-style or yeouiju (dragon orb) pattern is taken as a motif. Then thehairs are chopped into small pieces and scattered on the plate. Or, each hair is straightened gradually and dried using wood glue to express the artistic design. Second, freedom expressed in obangsaek(five traditional colors of Korea) using lines and vertical lines which are the characteristics of Mondrian's works and abstract works were displayed. This study has attempted to recreate artworks by applying jogakbo to hair art and make a contribution to the development of hair art.
