유아 언어교육 방법에 대한 미디어 담론 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 신문매체에서 다루고 있는 유아기 문해교육에 대한 기사분석을 통해 우리 사회에서 유아를 대상으로 하는 문해교육이 어떠한 의미를 가지는지를 논의하는 것이다. 구체적으로는 1965년에서 2012년까지 신문기사를 분석하여 어떠한 주제들을 중심으로 문해교육 담론이 구성되어 왔는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 주요 일간지에 나타난 유아 한글교육, 언어교육, 문자교육 관련 기사들에서 주제어를 도출한 후 언어네트워크 분석방법을 통해 주제어간의 관계 및 중심성을 분석했다. 분석결과, 유아기 문해교육을 구성하는 주제어 621개 중 핵심 주제어 66개가 도출되었으며 중심적 위치를 차지하는 핵심어는 '초등학교', '조기교육' 등이 있었다. 핵심어들 간의 연결 양상은 시기별로 차이가 있었다. 결론적으로 유아기 문해교육은 초등학교 준비, 조기교육 차원의 담론으로 구성되어 왔으며 유아기, 유아의 삶, 유아교육에 대한 담론은 배제되어 왔다는 것을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to discuss the meanings projected to early literacy education in our society through the analysis of articles in newspapers dealing with early literacy education. Specifically, articles from 1965 to 2012 was analyzed in order to understand the key themes that the discourse of early literacy center around. Articles were collected using key words including early literacy education, language education, and reading and writing. Utilizing semantic network analysis, key words and their connections were analyzed. Among the 621 key words in early literacy education, 66 key words including 'elementary school' and 'early education' that are located at the center of the discourse were derived. Features of connection among key words differ according to the periods. It was discussed that while early childhood literacy has been discussed around 'preparation for elementary school' and 'early education', what is missing in the discussion was the discourse of childhood, lives of children, and early childhood education.
