영문 초록

The Imperial countries in 19th century tried to spread their culture and the languages into the overseas settlements to make strong their domination. France also carried out the same policy in Lebanon. They tried to diffuse their culture and language to change the Lebanese into the French by the assimilation. Although France's occupation of Lebanon was a short period(1920-1943), the French language in Lebanon became the actually the official language even after the Lebanon's independence in 1943. This situation was due to the Lebanon's peculiar historical background that has the multi-cultural and languages characters and France's language policy in Lebanon. I think that the language policy fulfilled by France in Lebanon played a great role to make the French language's status in Lebanon. Therefore I tried to analysis the Lebanon's adoption of the French language and the Lebanese's recognition of the French language. The language contact between the Arabic the French language in Lebanon and the Lebanon's adoption will provide the useful materials to research the various phenomenons when the heterogeneous languages meet. Also. It will be very useful to understand the Lebanon's identity that has many difficulties to decide until now.
