국문 초록

본 연구는 저신장 아동의 저신장극복과 관련된 의미와 본질이 무엇인지 이해하고자 시도되었다. 연구대상자는 저신장아동으로 의사소통이 가능하며 연구에 동의한 6명이며, 자료수집기간은 2013년 4월부터 6월까지 약 3개월 간이었고, 해석학적 현상학적 연구방법을 적용하여 저신장극복체험에 대한 의미를 밝히고자 하였다. 저신장을 극 복하기 위한 체험의 본질적 주제는 체험의 기본구조로서 의미 차원들을 나타내는 데 도움을 주는 네 개의 실존체 즉 신체성, 관계성, 시간성, 공간성에 따라 도출되었으며, 7가지의 주제, 즉 견뎌내야 하는 내 몸, 몸의 변화, 작 은 내 몸, 관계재정립, 동거동락, 마감하는 주사, 벗어나려고 함으로 나타났다. 저신장을 극복하기 위해 주사를 맞아야 하는 불안과 공포를 줄일 수 있는 간호 중재방안 및 키가 큰 친구와의 비교를 통해 낮아진 자신감과 자아 존중중감을 높일 수 있는 심리적지지와 신체상에 대한 바른 기준을 가질 수 있도록 도와주어야 한다. 본 연구는 저학년 아동을 대상으로 저신장아동의 저신장 극복체험에 대한 본질적 의미를 밝히고자 처음 시도된 연구이므로 큰 의미가 있다고 본다.

영문 초록

This research was done to understand the meaning and nature related with overcoming short stature among those whose heights are short. The research objects were six short stature children who were able to communicate and agreed to participate in the research. The data collection period was three months from April to June 2013. The research methods this research used were analytic and phenomenological methods. The essential themes in the experiences to overcome short stature were extracted from the four existential beings such as body, relationship, time, and space which help revealing meaning dimensions as the basic structure of experience, and there were seven themes: my body which should endure, change of my body, my small body, reestablishment of relationships, living together and enjoying together, finishing shot, and trial to escape. Nursing intervention which can reduce anxiety and fear related with having to he shot to overcome short stature is required. And those children should be given psychological support to enhance the lowered pride caused by the comparison of their heights with those of tall friends and improve their self-esteem. They should also be helped to have just standards on their bodies. This research has significance in the sense that it is the first research to find out essential meaning related with the experiences of overcoming short stature among school children in lower grades.
