The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between the Display of Taekwondo Leaders' Transformational leadership and transactional leadership and the players' Taekwon-do commitment. The objects of this study were the Taekwondo players officially registered in the Korea Taekwondo Association who attend high schools, and 285 of them were used for the final analysis. The questionnaires were used to attain the purpose of the study, and investigations were made after securing validity and reliability. Multiple regression analysis were used as the methods of data processing. The level of significance was α=.05 for the verification of the hypotheses, and the results were as follows.
Firstly, the players' emotional commitment in Taekwondo increases more if a Taekwondo leader displays charisma which is a sub factor of the transformational leadership and considers personal characteristics. Secondly, the players' emotional commitment in Taekwondo increases more if a Taekwondo leader displays the conditional compensation which is a sub factor of the transactional leadership. Thirdly, the players' normative commitment in Taekwondo increases more if a Taekwondo leader considers personal characteristics which is a sub factor of the transformational leadership. Fourthly, the players' normative commitment in Taekwondo increases more if a Taekwondo leader displays exceptional management and conditional compensation that are sub factors of the transactional leadership. Fifthly, the players' continued commitment in Taekwondo increases more if a Taekwondo leader displays intellectual stimulation which is a sub factor of the transformational leadership. Sixthly, while the players' continued commitment in Taekwondo increases more if a Taekwondo leader displays conditional compensation that is a sub factor of the transactional leadership, exceptional management decreases their continued commitment in Taekwondo.
