국문 초록

최근 자원산업에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 세계10대 자원부국인 몽골의 광물산업에 대한 외국인 직접투자가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 몽골의 광물자원, 투자환경, 물류 현황과 최근 몽골 광물자원 산업에 투자한 기업들의 사례를 통해 시사점을 찾아보고자 하였다. 몽골은 다양하고 풍부한 광물자원을 보유하고 있지만 열악한 물류와 정부정책에 대한 낮은 신뢰도 등이 투자의 걸림돌이 되고 있다. 향후 우리나라의 대몽골 직접투자는 광물산업에 대한 공격적 투자 보다는 물류 산업과 같은 관련 산업에 먼저 진출하고 향후 투자규모를 확대시키는 접근방식이 필요하다.

영문 초록

Mongolian mining and the Mongolian resource industry has recently been the focus of many global investors. This study analyzes the value chain of the mining and resources industry of Mongolia to find the real value of investment. This research reviews the performance of recent foreign direct investment in Mongolian mining and resource industry to contribute to future investment decisions and strategy. Results of this research found that Mongolian mining and resources have affluent and valuable natural resources, but lack logistic infrastructure. Mongolian government officials are also acting as obstacles for direct foreign investment. Thus, Korean firms should carefully consider the political and social environment of Mongolia and the strengths and weaknesses of investing there. It is also recommended that Korean firms should consider the uncertainty of the Mongolian Government, and thus to invest slowly but steadily for future opportunities.
