영문 초록

South Korea has transformed its war-torn poverty-stricken economy in early 1960s to one of the highly developed industrial powerhouses in only three decades. Its rapid economic growth was primarily led by employing an effective set of government policies. Mongolia, in contrast, is an emerging new frontier with double digit economic growth fueled by fast growth in its rich natural resources sector. Yet, its weak institutional structure and ineffective government policies among other factors pose significant challenges for this relatively new entrant to the market economy to attain sustainable economic development. This paper identifies the current challenges facing Mongolia, more specifically its natural resources sector, in order to find solutions how to apply South Korea s development strategies and policies to Mongolia.
