국문 초록

이 글은 박태원이 국어교육과 어떤 관련성이 있는지에 대하여 살펴보고자 하는 데에 목적이 있다. 주요 논점은 일제 강점기부터 해방 직후에 이르기까지 박태원은 직간접적으로 국어교육에 관여하였는데, 그 구체적인 내용은 무엇이고 그 의미는 무엇인지에 대하여 논의하고자 한다. 이러한 논의는 크게 두 가지 점에 의미를 부여할 수 있을 것이다. 하나는 박태원 연구의 범위를 확장한다는 점이고, 다른 하나는 일제강점기와 해방직후 국어교육의 구체적인 일면을 살펴본다는 점이다. 일제 강점기 박태원은 다양한 양식의 아동문학을 발표하였다. 그의 동화에는 당시 어문 교육 즉 일본어가 국어가 되고 공교육에서 단계적으로 조선어 교육이 폐지되는 상황에 대한 남다른 자의식이 반영되어 있다는 점에 주목할 필요가 있다. 그의 동화는 종종 '독본(讀本)'이라는 표제 아래 발표되었는데, 「솟곱」 「줄다리기」 「김후직」 등이 그것이다. 당시 '독본'은 강습소, 야학 등에서 한글 교육 교재로 활용되었으며, 이 작품들은 조선어교육과 민족의식을 강조하는 내용을 담고 있다. 이는 비록 간접적이기는 하지만 조선어교육이 불가능한 상황에 대한 유용한 대응 수단이었다고 볼 수 있다. 해방 이후 박태원은 작문교육에 관심을 기울인다. 그는 『중등문범(中等文範)』과 『중등작문(中等作文)』등 두 권의 작문 교재를 펴낸다. 『중등문범』은 박태원이 편집한 부교재이고, 『중등작문』은 그가 집필한 작문 교과서이다. 『중등문범』은 모범이 될 만한 글들을 주제별로 모아 놓은 일종의 좋은 글 모음집이다. 당시 이 교재는 일본 재일조선인학교에서도 조선어 부교재로도 사용되었다. 『중등작문』은 박태원이 직접 집필한 작문 교과서이다. 책의 내용은 크게 글의 본질, 글을 쓰는 방법, 글의 종류 등 세 부분으로 나누어진다. 학생들이 이해하기 쉽게 개념을 설명하고 구체적인 예문을 제시하는 방식으로 기술되어 있다.

영문 초록

This paper will focus on relation between Park Tae-won and Korean language education. Park Tae-won was involved in Korean language education during Japanese colonial era to liberation, directly and indirectly. The main issues of this research are that detail contents and meaning of his participation. This discussion will extend the scope of Park Tae-won research and investigate specific aspect of Korean language education during Japanese colonial era to directly after liberation. In Japanese colonial era, Park Tae-won published various style juvenile literatures. At that time, Japanese became official language. Furthermore, Chosun language education was abolished from public education in phases. His fairy tales reflect his uncommon identity toward language education of those days. His novels such as 'sok-gob', 'tug-of-war', and 'Kim Hoo-Jik' were published, occasionally, titled as 'A reading book'. These novels concentrated Chosun language education and national consciousness, and were used in Korean language teaching materials at studio and night instruction. Even though indirectly, it was useful means of confrontation to the situation. After liberation, Park Tae-won was concerned about composition education. He published two composition texts: 'Secondary-school model composition', 'Secondary-school composition writing'. 'Secondary-school model composition' is edited auxiliary textbook, and 'Secondary-school composition writing' is written textbook by him. The first one is a kind of good writing compilation. It contains classified several writings served as a role model by subjects. Then, it was used in Chosun language auxiliary textbook at Korean Japanese school. The second one is composition writing textbook written by Park tae-won directly. The book is generally divided into three chapters such as essence of writing, the way of writing, and kind of writing. He facilitates the understanding by explaining concept and suggesting detailed example sentence.
