This paper is aimed to present a fuzzy decision-making approach to deal with the plant location selection problem In this paper, linguistic values are used to assess the ratings and weights for these factors, and these linguistic ratings can be expressed in trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. Then, a hierarchy multiple criteria decision-making(MCDM) model based on fuzzy-sets theory and TOPSIS(Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution) is proposed to deal with the plant location selection problem. This study applies the fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making method to determine the importance weight of evaluation criteria and to synthesize the ratings of plant locations. This approach is demonstrated with a real case study involving 4 evaluation criteria, 4 plant locations assessed by 4 evaluators from a company. This paper shows that the proposed method is well suited as a decision-making tool for plant location selection decisions.
