명문 대학에 입학한 장애학생 실태조사

국문 초록

장애학생의 대학 입학 특별전형제도를 실시한 이후 고등학교를 졸업한 장애학생들의 대학 진학률이 해마다 증가하고 있다. 현재 특별전형을 통해 대학으로 진학한 장애학생들의 실태를 파악하는 데 있어서 장애학생의 고등학교 때의 내신 성적, 과외 경험의 유ㆍ무 등과 같은 개인적 특성 및 가족의 사회경제적 지위, 부모의 학력 등의 가족적 특성과 같은 인적 정보가 많지 않다. 또한 한국에서 일반학생들이 명문 대학에 들어가는 데 있어서 특목고, 부모의 사회경제적 지위, 사교육의 영향을 받는 것처럼 장애학생들은 어떠한 특성들에 영향을 받는지를 아는데 제한적이었다. 따라서 본 연구는 특수교육대상자 특별전형을 통해 명문 대학에 들어간 장애학생들의 일반적 특성과 가족적 특성을 살펴본 후 장애 유형과 학교 순위 변인들에 따라 이러한 특성들에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이 연구의 목적을 위해 2012학년도 중앙일보평가를 바탕으로 1-30위의 4년제 대학들과 10곳의 교육대학들에 특별전형으로 들어간 장애신입생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였다. 그리고 그 결과를 바탕으로 학생들의 개인적 특성(나이, 성별, 거주 지역), 장애 특성(장애유형, 장애 발생 시기, 장애 정도), 대학 진학, 대학 생활 그리고 가족적 특성에 대해서 정리하였으며, 또한 장애 유형과 대학 순위 변인들에 따른 일반적 특성 및 가족적 특성의 차이에 대해서도 논의하였다.

영문 초록

There has been a growing number of students with disabilities who intend to go to college since the special entrance program for students with disabilities was implemented in 1995. There is limited information regarding personal and family characteristics regarding undergraduate students with disabilities admitted through the special entrance program, especially in prestigious colleges. This study was designed to investigate personal and family characteristics of students with disabilities admitted into a prestigious 4 year college by special entrance program. Also, it examined whether there were differences among the personal and family characteristics of students with disabilities by types of disabilities and by university ranks. The results of the study described the personal and family characteristics of students with disabilities, including age, gender, residence place, religion, types of disability, severity of disability, private tutoring, high school gpa, college entrance exam grades, when they decided to go to college, the reasons of why they chose to go to college, important factors affecting their selection of college, person mostly influencing their decision, sources for selecting college and major, college gpa, receiving a scholarship, types of scholarship, communion to college, types of family, father's obtained degree, mother's obtained degree, and family's social economic status. This study also discussed the effects of types of disabilities and university ranks on the personal and family characteristics of undergraduates with disabilities in prestigious colleges.
