The present study aims to examine the effects of using storybooks in promoting elementary school students’ cultural embracing ability based on anti-bias education, which ultimately leads to intercultural communicative competence. Five storybooks were chosen and adapted in order to introduce foreign cultures. The results are as follows: The students’ acceptance and tolerance of cultural differences was significantly improved. The students’ bias towards the skin color and the appearance was reduced and the students became interested in the various countries and cultures and their reasons of interest became diverse. In addition, the students’ achievement in listening improved. Based on the results of the current research, the following suggestions are made: Firstly, specific guidelines for anti-bias education should be established in the English curriculum. Secondly, the topics and the specific items on cultural differences should be included in the English curriculum. Lastly, teaching and learning materials on hand for cultural education and anti-bias education should be supplied to every elementary school.
