Purpose: The purpose is to present the role of forensic nurses in the child sexual abuse response center. Methods: 179 cases which requested forensic evaluation with interview among child victims under 13 years who visited YoungNam province child sexual abuse response center from 2007 to 2008 were the subjects of this study. Result: In forensic evaluation, 40.8% of the child victims appeared to have a injury related to sexual assault. There were 29 cases that these forensic evaluation findings did not correspond with the child's first history. In these cases, the children gave a reduced report from embarrassment, fear and lack of ability to express due to mental retardation. It was reported mistakenly due to inappropriate knowledge of sexual behavior, as they misapprehended simple friction of external genitals as penetration. The testimony of a professional was requested at court as a spokesperson or interpreter of the child who lack logical statement abilities. Conclusion: The role of forensic nurses who trained as forensic interviewers, the appropriate examination techniques, methods for documentation of findings, and collection of forensic evidence from the child victim, are very important in the child sexual abuse response center.
