산업계 관점의 대학교육에 대한 평가

국문 초록

본 연구는 금속철강 사례를 중심으로 산업계 관점에서 대학 교육과정을 어떻게 평가하는지 알아보기 위하여 산업계 전문가, 기업 부서장, 졸업생 등이 대학의 교육과정을 평가하도록 하였다. 이를 위해 대학 교육과정에 대한 산업계의 요구에 근거하여 일치도를 분석하고, 졸업생이 대학 교육과정에 대한 직무 수행 중요도 평가를 실시하였다. 또한 기업 부서장이 대학 교육과정의 성과인 각 대학의 졸업생의 역량을 직접 평가하도록 하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 산업계에서는 각 대학에 요구하는 교육과정은 교양 26.38%, 전공 41.33%가 개설된 것으로 나타났다. 졸업생의 교과목 중요도 평가 결과, 교양에서는 외국어를 제외하고 대부분의 교과에 대해서 별로 유용하지 않다고 평가하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 부서장들은 졸업생의 직무 역량에 대해서 전문 직무역량(3.32)을 일반 직무역량(3.41)보다 낮게 평가 하였다. 특히, 부서장과 졸업생 주관식 응답에 대한 분석 결과, 각 주체가 대학 교육과정에 대해 요구하는 역량에 있어 상이한 것으로 나타나 향후 역량 중심의 대학 교육에 대한 평가 방안에 대한 구체적인 논의가 요구된다. 본 연구는 산업계 관점 대학평가 사례를 통해 대학교육에 관한 평가주체의 다양성과 그 평가결과의 차이를 인정할 필요성이 있음을 제시하였고, 향후 대학평가 분야가 탐구해 나갈 과제를 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the paper is to investigate the evaluation of university education on the perspective of industry using a case of steel and metal engineering education. With analysis of the degree of the agreement based on the requirements of the industry, the paper covers the evaluation of the graduates on the applicability of the university curriculum and the evaluation of the chiefs in each company on the ability of the graduates which is the result of the university curriculum. We could conclude firstly that the curriculum suggested by the industry actually matched the university curriculum by 26.38% and 41.33% for liberal arts and major subjects respectively. The graduates did not highly rated that the university curriculum are important in doing their vocational duties except the foreign languages among the liberal arts. Secondly, the chiefs rated the professional competency (3.32) less than the general competency (3.41) for the graduates of each company. In particular, it turned out that the graduates and the chiefs have different degree on the requirements for vocational performance. This may suggest further detailed discussion on how to evaluate the university education centered at the competence. In this study, we pointed out the necessity on the evaluation considering the diversity of the evaluators and the evaluation results, and suggested several issues for the further study in the field of the university evaluation.
