국문 초록

시각문화미술교육에 대한 논의는 시각 이미지가 인간에게 미치는 영향력에 대한 인문학적 가치를 탐구하는 다원적 관점에서 전개되어야 한다. 기존 시각문화미술교육 관련 논문은 비판적 사고와 역량강화라는 제한된 일부 영역에 치중되고 있다. 이런 제한성에 대한 문제의식으로부터 본 논문은 시각문화미술교육을 바라보는 인식의 폭을 확장시키고자 한다. 더 나아가 미술교육에 대한 논의가 인문학적인 관점에서 전개되어야 하는 근거를 시각문화미술교육과 결부시켜 보려고 한다. 이를 위해， 인문학적 관점의 필요성을 먼저 논의한다. 그리고 시각문화에 대한 원론적 이해를 바탕으로 시각문화미술교육의 방향을 인문학적 관점에서 검토한다. 마지막 부분은 논의된 인문학적 가치를 반영한 예시적 적용 아이디어 두 가지를 간략한 제안 수준에서 제안해 본다. 먼저 일상에서 접하는 시각문화 경험에 대한 개별적인 탐구 활동을 인문학적 가치 중심으로 이해하는 접근법을 제시한다. 다음으로 시각 이미지 해체 작업이 학생들의 일상성에 대한 비평적 탐구가 될 수 있음을 예시적으로 논의한다.

영문 초록

This paper argues the need for humanistic approaches in order to expand our understanding of visual culture art education. It addresses more diverse ways realizing the impact of visual images on the foundation and conduct of our daily life as one of the essential goals of visual culture art education. Emphasizing the cultivation of critical thinking and empowering students to take socially appropriate actions is pervasive and dominant. However, this article elucidates that this emphasis is limited because recent trajectory and boundaries of visual culture art education call for more plural ways of highlighting the humanistic value of our inquiry into visual images. Taking this into account, the primary focus of this paper aims to expand our understanding of visual culture art education from humanistic viewpoints. For this purpose, this paper first discusses the need for humanistic approaches to visual culture art education. It then offers the direction of humanistic approaches to visual culture art education while trying to determine the humanistic principles of visual culture art education. The last part of this paper proposes two exemplar ideas reflecting the humanistic approaches to visual culture art education. The first example discusses a way in which we can utilize visual images in our daily life in order to examine their humanistic roles and values. The second example reveals how visual image deconstruction can be a critical pathway for delving into the foundation and directions of our daily life as an active reflection upon visual images that surround us.
