과제 난이도에 따른 고기능 자폐아동의 작업기억 수행능력

국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 본 연구는 고기능 자폐아동 집단과 일반아동 집단의 작업기억 난이도 간 수행능력의 차이를 분석하고 작업기억능력과 구문의미이해력과의 상관관계를 알아보고자 한다. 방법: 서울ㆍ경기 지역에 사는 만 7~9세 고기능 자폐아동 15명, 일반아동 15명, 총 30명을 대상으로 세 가지 작업기억 과제(문장폭기억 과제, 숫자폭세기 과제, 매트릭스 과제)를 실시하였다. 결과분석은 집단을 집단 간 요인으로 과제 난이도를 집단 내 요인으로 하여 이원혼합분산분석 및 상관분석을 실시하였다. 결과: (1) 문장폭기억 과제(예/아니오)의 정반응율이 유일하게 두 집단 간 유의미한 차이가 있었다. (2) 문장폭기억 과제(예/아니오), 문장폭기억 과제(단어회상), 숫자폭세기 과제, 매트릭스 과제 모두에서 과제 난이도별로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. (3) 일반아동은 구문의미이해력과 문장폭기억 과제(단어회상)와 유의미한 상관관계를 보였고, 고 기능 자폐아동은 구문의미이해력과 숫자폭세기 과제, 매트릭스 과제에서 유의미한 상관관계를 보였다. 논의 및 결론: 고기능 자폐아동은 단일 과제, 회상능력 과제에서는 일반아동과 비슷한 수행능력을 보였지만, 이중 과제 및 문장이해처리가 필요한 과제에서는 일반아동에 비해 낮은 수행능력을 보였다. 또한 일반아동과 고기능 자폐아동의 작업기억 능력과 구문의미이해력간의 상관관계는 서로 다른 양상을 보였다.

영문 초록

Background & Objectives: The present study investigated first, how children with high-function autism (HFA) perform on working memory tasks compared to typically developing (TD) children, and second, how language skills (Korea sentence comprehension test score, KOSECT) correlate with working memory. Methods: The study included children between 7 and 9 years of age, 15 with HFA, and 15 TD. The experiments consisted of 3 working memory span tasks: Competing Language Processing Task (CLPT), Counting span, and Matrix. The working memory span tasks consisted of different levels of complexity; 1) CLPT: 6 levels, 2) Counting span: 5 levels, 3) Matrix: 4 levels. Two-way mixed ANOVA was used to analyze the data. Results: The results were as follows: (1) There were significant differences between the 2 groups on CLPT (Yes/No) task, showing that children with HFA had lower accuracy than TD children. (2) There were significant differences among complexities within tasks. (3) No interaction effects were found between group and complexity conditions. (4) There was significant correlation between KOSECT score and CLPT recall accuracy in TD children. However, in children with HFA, Counting span accuracy and Matrix accuracy significantly correlated with KOSECT score. Discussion & Conclusion: The study results show that children with HFA had difficulty in sentence processing while their performance was similar to TD children on working memory span tasks.
