영문 초록

With an ever growing importance of international trade for the national economy in each country in line with the global trend toward economic integration, there has been a consensus on the extent to which various trade related indices together with the national trade statistics is utilized as an essential basis for measuring the magnitude of contribution international trade makes to an overall economic performance or the impact on the economic growth of the trade one country has with another, and for evaluating the benefit of international trade to one’s economy. This paper focuses on the formulation of the Trade Business Composite Index(TBIC) based on the export/import customs data tabulated at the Korean Customs Service(KCS), which could emphasize the importance of the customs data and engender its usage for various policy applications in consideration of the current position of South Korea on the evolutionary path toward globalization.
