영문 초록

In Chosun dynasty, Confucianism adopted as a new ruling ideology had strongly influenced on the spirit and the culture of Chosun society and architecture. Therefore, it is sure that Seowon, one of the educational organs shows a part of architectural characteristics of Chosun dynasty. Most of the existing studies on Seowon architecture mainly focused on each building itself, the type of building layout, and the effect of confucianism on the building layout etc.. To understand Seowon architecture comprehensively, the relationship between the building layout and the spacial composition also has to be studied. There are two prerequisite for the study on the building layout and the space composition in Korean traditional architecture. Firstly, there must be an exact existing site layout drawing which is essential to the study. Secondly, it is necessary to getting a good grasp of the process of changes of building layout during the time. The aim of this study is to understand Oksan-Seowon at the point of building layout and space composition through the survey and analysis on both the site layout and measuring unite of scale applied to the original construction of each building and to find out the geometric and visual characteristics of it. Existing site layout drawing used in this study was prepared with actual survey it.
