The purpose of this thesis is to discuss the problem of Korean modem poems in early 1920’s. Until now, 「Chang Jo」(창조), 「Pye Heo」(폐허), 「Bak Jo」(백조), the literacy cotery magazines are interpreted in terms of the poetry effect of the western symbolism. But actually in analysing this poems of coterie magazine times (동인지 시대), we achieved unexpected conclusion. The poet in 1920’s, Bak Younghee (박영희), Hwang Sukwoo(황석우), Bak Jongwha(박종화), O Sangsoon(오상순) etc., had a exact goal. They thought that they had to established the modem Literature-Art in Chosun, and it maked a new epoch in the modern literature.
Generally, we estimate negatively the poems in early 1920’s. As we think that there are ideality, obscurity. That is, they are notably judged by contemporary by us, such as Literatery the same view of our times. But, I think that ideality and obscurity are sign of modernity. In 1920’s poetry, death, dream, body, soul, resurrection etc, this ideal idiom are modem isiom itself. Therefore, we have to estimate from the viewpoints of not decadence, nihilism but archeology.
