영문 초록

The present study aims to examine the bibliography and works of 『Sijo』(Jang) which is a new material and by this, to investigate features of change and themes expressed in the work. They can be summarized and organized as follows: First, 『Sijo』(Jang) is a collection of poems of Sijochang and was transcribed by Nam Chang in 1924 and works contained in it are total 102 pieces and short Sijos are 52 pieces, and long Sijos are 50 pieces. For the type written, it is a collection of poems written only in Korean and newly found works are total 4 pieces. High frequency of exposure is shown in 『Chungyuk』 and 『Gagokwonryu』 and 『Byungga』 etc. in the relation with other collections of poems. Second, for features of change of works, change of the transcriber’s consciousness and unconsciousness is shown and the conscious change involves concretion of expressions and similar and different words are employed to be transformed. In addition, it was observed that there were changes to be considerate of readers. Unconscious change often involves misreading of sounds of Chinese characters, omission of syllables or phrases, and frequent omission of the entire chapter and change of position of vocabulary were often observed. Second, as far as tastes of contents in the works, most of works contained were reflecting preferences of noblemen since the transcriber sang poems for them in a feast or in a place of entertainment. Concretely, there were a lot of contents which addressed inspiration of entertainment, praises of the royal benevolence, and consolation of the joys and sorrows of life. It can be said that these tastes of the works contained are a result that the transcriber adopted and selected them considering the audience. Therefore, it can be said 『Sijo』(Jang) is a collection of poems hich is carrying on the tradition of collections of poems of Sijochang in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We believe that if these continuous studies on the collections of poems of Sijochang are accumulated in the future, the flow of Gachang and the overall context of Sijo history around the 20th century will be able to be revealed as well.
