This paper undertakes a critical examination of conditions for existing as a woman writer in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Connecting Mary Shelley’s text with monster’s text, it focuses on three elements in Shelley’s novel: no name of a woman writer and no communication with each other and the isolation of monster’s text. Mary Shelley reveals the problem of the one-sided communication through Victor Frankenstein’s order to Walton while Walton doesn’t meet monster. It presents the impossibility of interrelationship with the society she belongs to and her anguish over the status as a woman writer in the society. The isolation of monster’s text means the exclusion of her story in the environment of the society which forces a woman not to have even a name. However, eventually the monster’s text exists reinforcing the power of the existence of a woman writer now here.
