영문 초록

In this paper, a model for assessing potential, and risk of impacts arisen from utilization, of tourism sites in Songkhla Lake Basin (SLB) in southern Thailand was developed. The model consisted of a set of indicators for assessing potential and risk. Criteria for scoring each indicator were established and the resulting scores were used for assessing the potential and risk of the tourism sites. The model was thereafter used to assess one of the prime tourism sites in SLB, the Thalesabsongkhla Non-hunting Area at Khukhud. The result suggested that this site be identified as the principal tourism site in SLB, falling into the high potential- medium risk group. The authors concluded by recommending strategic measures which can serve as a mechanism for safeguarding, monitoring and sustaining the tourism sites.
