영문 초록

In spite of growing numbers of tourism employees in Tanzania, social scientists have not dedicated much attention to labour market issues in this sector. This paper focuses on the hospitality industry and its gendered employment patterns. Data from a case study show that hospitality companies provide low earnings and at the same time work with larger proportions of female staff. First insights are given on how women are recruited to restaurants, hotels and bars and why they are regarded as suitable candidates for this part of the labour market.
