To verify the patterns of evolution of Arabic Tale, it seems important not only to understand the genealogy between the collections of tales(i.e. Panchatantra, Kalila wa-Dimnah, Calilae Dimna, etc.), but also to analyze the way of transmission of each one of the stories that we find generally in these collections. So I choose the tale "The Carpenter, the Barber and Their Wives" as practical base for the comparison of the Indian, Arabic and Spanish versions. This story arose from a realm of Indian folktale connected, especially in Buddhism, with
the doctrine of metempsychosis. Ibn al-Muqaffa, a Persian author convert to Islam, translated the story into Arabic around 750 A. D. The Spanish version appears to follow an Arabic text in the year 1251, while Alfonso X was still a prince. This tale which originated in the Panchatantra of India and was enriched by passing through Arabic, found its was into European Renaissance literature in collections of tales like Boccaccio's Decameron, Timoneda's El Patrañuelo, etc.
