국문 초록

본고의 목적은 문법화와 어휘화의 상관관계를 구명하는 것과, 용언의 어간에 관형사형 어미가 결합한 ‘Xㄴ’형과 ‘Xㄹ’형 중에서 어휘화한 관형사의 특성과 유형을 살펴보는 것이다. 우선 문법화와 어휘화의 관계는 대립적인 관계가 아니라 문법화가 어휘화에 내포되는 관계이다. 어휘화는 어휘부 밖에 있던 통사 단위가 어휘부 안으로 들어오는 과정이며, 문법화는 통사부에 있던 단위가 어휘부 안으로 들어오기도 하고 어휘부 안에 있던 단위가 어휘부 내로 이동하기도 한다. 이러한 문법화와 어휘화의 개념에 의하면 이들은 상보적 관계가 아니라 문법화가 어휘화에 내포되는 것임을 알 수 있다. 그리고 어휘화한 관형사의 유형에는 단일구성과 복합구성이 있는데, 이들은 단어 형성 과정이 통시적이며 관형사 파생 접미사가 존재하지 않아 단어 형성이 활발하지 못하다. 그것은 관형사형 어미가 관형사 파생 접미사의 역할까지 수행하여 관형사 파생 접미사 형성에 대한 저지 현상을 가지고 있기 때문이다. 이러한 어휘화한 관형사에는 관형사가 가지는 통시적 현상으로 인하여 그 범주의 경계가 불투명한 준어휘화한 관형사가 발견된다.

영문 초록

This article focuses on two points. First, what is the relationship between grammaticalization and lexicalization? Second, what are the types and characteristics of lexicalizations based on verb + adnominal of the type 'X-n' and 'X-l'? The article finds that grammaticalization and lexicalization are not mutually exclusive, but rather that their relationship is connotative: grammaticalization is a subset of, or a kind of, lexicalization. Lexicalization is a process whereby elements originally outside the lexicon are incorporated into the lexicon, while grammaticalization is a process that either brings elements formerly in the syntax into the lexicon, or else reallocates elements within the lexicon from one area to another. G iven such an understanding of lexicalization and gram m aticalization, these are not com plem entary notions, and gram m aticalization m ust be subsum ed under lexicalization. W ithin the types of lexicalized adnom inal, there are both unitary and complex structures; the word formation process for these is diachronic, and insofar as there is no adnominal-related derivational suffix, such word formation is not productive. This is because the adnominal forms themselves play the role of adnominal derivational suffix, and thus block the formation of such derivational suffixes. Because of the diachronic phenomena involved in the adnominal forms in these lexicalized adnominals, their categorical boundaries are unclear, and we are forced to recognize them as 'semi-lexicalized adnominals'.(Sogang University).
