영문 초록

Hogok Yong-ik, Nam visited Japan as an envoy of Joseon Tongsinsa in 1665 and also China as an envoy of Yeonhang Sajeldan, 10 years later in 1666. Based on the experiences through these two travels, was created. This literary work is composed of introductionㆍbodyㆍconclusion just like the ordinary Gasa. But then bonsa is divided into two layers, travel in Japan and travel in China, depending on the subjected country, and is described in the order of motive for travel, domestic itinerary, overseas itinerary and return. While the focus of existing works of Sahaeng Gasa is on the experience in one country, is characterized by targeting two countries in one work, with the chronological parallel structure. doesn't reveal the specific destinations but catches the writer's attention in a unique style. He expresses admiration and experiences in the destination by using various rhetorical figures such as simile, antithesis, personification, comparison and interrogation. The main rhythm consists of 60.12%, 3ㆍ4 meters among total of 642 phrases plus other diverse meters including 2ㆍ3 and 2ㆍ4 meters. includes the admiration for the exotic scenery and culture, the cynical sentiment on Japan and Qing dynasty, and pride for his own life. At the same time he expresses the admirable viewpoint on the advanced culture and spacious landscape of foreign countries, his negative viewpoint on Qing dynasty and Japan appears due to the historical events our country suffered from. Moreover it is expressed how he is filled with proud emotions as he thinks about the past. is the first Sahaeng Gasa in existence, widening the filed of Sahaeng literature, and is worth to notice that we're able to find a variety of feelings while traveling just in one literary work, which introduces experiences in two countries. Meanwhile, has a high literary value providing readers with information on Japan and China as well as pleasures of enjoying literature as it was copied and distributed by the textbook for childhood education in the choson Dynasty like .
