Sensation is the function of signification. In other words, what we sense includes our interpretation style. Painting styles are also an expression of interpretational characteristics based on sensation. The artist visualizes an interpretation style about the world based on his or her sensation into a work, and the appreciator sees an artist's way of interpretation and also sees a spiritual aspect depending on his or her existing knowledge or belief that adds something to or deduct from the artist's style. The essence of art is to visualize something. Creation makes invisible things appear in front of the eye. That is, a sensual object of art should contain a meaning. What we expect from art is something spiritual it symbolizes. However, the meaning of something invisible, which is actually in a visible world but is hidden, is revealed in front of us as "a meaning shown to us in a visible arrangement structure." For investigation, this study separated visual art sensation into the artist's creation process and the appreciator's art sensation which appear symmetrical in an art work. In addition, the study aimed to visualize the correlation between visible and invisible things in the process of creation into the author's works. Chapter Ⅱ divided sensations that appear in the process of perceiving common objects into real "sensual perception," and internal "spiritual perception." Chapter Ⅲ compared visual sensation for art creation with visual sensation for art appreciation. Finally, chapter Ⅳ analyzed the author's works based on Merleau-Ponty's phenomenological sensation theory. Through this process, it was found that visual art exists because of visual sensation, and the creator's role that helps appreciation and nachschaffen was highlighted. The artist should question oneself if he or she produces irresponsible works that give only visual impacts, and the artist has to create works that play a role as a new viewpoint to the world.
