영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand several debates on mass media and to explore the influence and meaning of mass media over contemporary art. And this study research on the inter relationship between mass media and contemporary art, accentuated on the matters of the concept of art and the changes of art through the extension of media. First, the concepts and debates up to now on mass media are addressed. Second, the development of mass media starts the new question about the concept of art, and also changes the contents and expressions of visual art. Third, in the part of the extension of media, the inter relationship between art and media is explored through the theories of Benjamin and Mcluhan. Fourth, the definition and properties of digital media are compared with mass media, and the change of artistic images through digital media is investigated through the theory of Flusser. In addition, some digital art works with obvious characters of digital media are exampled and explained.
