영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the intonational realizations of the vocatives in comparison with those of the appositives in English statements, yes/no questions, and wh-questions produced by English native speakers and Korean learners of English. The results indicate that the English native speakers differentiate between the vocatives and the appositives with distinctive tonal patterns. While, the Korean learners of English hardly distinguish between those two expressions using appropriate intonational cues.
