한국의 문화 경관에 대한 통합적 관점

국문 초록

한국은 아직까지 다양한 종류의 문화 경관이 풍부하게 남아 있으므로 문화지리학의 경관 개념을 적용하여 설명하기에 적합한 국가이다. 한국의 문화 경관은 일반적으로 종교 경관, 민속 경관, 농촌 경관, 도시 경관 등으로 분류된다. 현실적으로 이러한 문화 경관들은 개별적으로 형성된 것이 아니고 상호 관련성을 가지고 발달한 것이다. 한국에는 문화의 전파(확산)나 자연환경에 대한 적응이라는 구 문화지리학의 관점에서 충분히 설명되지 않는 문화 경관의 분포가 적지 않다. 이제는 구 문화지리학의 접근 방법에 사회 이론과 정치적 관심사를 접목시킴으로써 문화 경관의 연구와 사회적 과정의 탐구를 하나로 통합해 나갈 필요가 있다. 한국을 연구하는 문화지리학자들은 복합적인 사회-문화적 과정과 이에 개입하는 이데올로기와 권력 관계에 각별한 관심을 기울일 필요가 있는 것이다.

영문 초록

Both a plenty and a variety of cultural landscapes still remains in Korea to be explored by cultural geographers, the experts on spatial thinking. These cultural landscapes are generally classified into five main categories: religious, folk, linguistic, rural and urban landscape. In reality, they have not been formed individually but collectively in association with one another. There are not a few cultural landscapes that cannot be explained completely from the perspective of old (traditional) cultural geography: cultural diffusion and adaptation to physical environment. It is now necessary for the Korean cultural geographers to combine social and political theories with traditional approaches from cultural geography. They need to formed the cultural landscapes in Korea.
