영문 초록

As manifested in controversies, Mori Ougai in the forefront of the Orient was just an oriental othernized to Naumann. Before Mori Ougai did not have an awareness of it, judgment of barbarism on Japan was formed by Naumann. Mori Ougai got into a strong argument over what Naumann maintained, with all knowledge he could mobilize in order to be equal with the West. Naumann scoffed at Japan from the standpoint of a westerner, and forecasted its decline and fall. Lu Xun, while he was a medical student, realized the limits of modern medicine’s utility and converted to literature. At Sendai Medical School, when the the Russo-Japanese Warbroke out, Fujino and Zhōu Shùrén began to form close ties together. Their acquaintance led to a national policy-based novel ‘Farewell’ 20 years later, and through Dajai, National Literature Association has recalled the benefits and favor that invaders bestowed 40 years ago. In conclusion, modern western medicine made a scientifically great stride as it expanded its influence with missionaries, colonists, and beyond any physical boundaries. At the same time, medical development had power effect in itself. I could see through the signs of ideological changes that Mori Ougai and Lu Xun manifested as medical knowledge set out to assume empowerment in itself and have a decisive power.
