영문 초록

Through a comtemporary animation film Shrek, We will find out a contemporary meaning of , an epic narrative shamanic song. Shrek is a core culture code to understand current culture. So, a comparative study on aesthetic category between Shrek and Princess Bari, is the work to understand Princess Bari from current culture point of view. And it will be a kind of study on finding a contemporary meaning of oral literature. From the starting of 21st century, there are a lot of assertions to pursue cultural variety. In company with the media change, we must free ourselves from bondage of narrow literary mind. It is the Shrek that can give us a new possibility of digital storytelling. Shrek surpassed Walt Disney style in storytelling, that is to say, a beautiful, kind and lofty character and story. Shrek gives us a new point of view to understand Princess Bari. It is a grotesqueness. Shrek and Princess Bari shows a lot of grotesqueness, for example, grotesque character(monster), grotesque behavior, grotesque storyline, and grotesque morality. Grotesqueness always has an ambivalence and that is the virtue of grotesqueness. Through these grotesqueness, Princess Bari pursues a new cognition in a matter of life and death. I believe that this is not yet a new methodology to understand oral literature in 21st century, but this can be a way to find a contemporary meaning of oral literature.
