영문 초록

The aim of this study is to explore and illuminate the contrastive feature in Lee Gwang-su`s and Kim Dong-in`s Literature. especially prose fiction. and to find way toward dialectic synthesis. The result through this study will be contributed to expand the horizons for future of Korean Literature. because they were leading great writers during last century. The methodology chosen revolves around a study of spiritual dimension. while method of synthetic hermeneutics are applied for the analysis of their works. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the speakers` tone in Lee`s works is those of the teachers. For example. the heros of Heartlessness 「무정」, Heartedness 「유정」, Earth「흙」, Love「사랑」, Not Being Spiritually Awakened 「무명(無明)」, Buddhist Saint Weonhyo 「원효 대사」, Martyrdom of Yi Cha-don「이차돈의 사」, the Golden Holly Rod 「금십자가」, etc. So Lee closed up the teachers. the men of 재기요 holiness in his works. Ultimately they were the liberators. the saviors of Korean nation during the colonial period by Japan. Lee chose didactic theory in Literary Criticism. To the contrary. the speakers` tone in Kim`s works is those of immoral fellow. a hedonist. For example. Potato「감자」, Bear Some Resemblance to his Father`s toe. 「발가락이 닮았다」, Personal History of Kim Yeon-shill「김연실전」, Punishment by Flogging 「태형」, A Specific Proviso 「명문」: A Crazy Painter「광화사」, A Flame and Sonata「광염소나타」etc. Kim was a naturalistic realist as well as an art for art`s sake writer. Second. psychoanalytically Lee Gwang-su was a writer of Superiority Complex. Lee reflected his unconsciousness of elitism on his works. and Kim attacked Lee`s all achievements. especially his humanitarianism persistently. As a result Kim`s heros/heroines and plots in his works went to extremes. Third. Lee Gwang-su was the man of charity. an humanitarian. His personality like this was reflected on his works. It seems that his experience as an orphan influenced on his writing. He portrayed many heros/heroines of charity in his works. In Home of Mr. Sam-bong 「삼봉이네 집」he closed up a hero of socialist realism extremely. Kim Dong-in was disinterested in or despised the unhavers. He looked sown on the unhaver`s works(KAPF). It is thought that he was a son of very rich landlord. Fourth, Lee Gwang-su was writer of spirituality. He was deeply affected by Cheondo-gyo. Christianity. and Buddhism. He depicted many heros/heroines of spirituality. For example. The Martyr 「순교자」. The Glden Holly Rod 「금십자가」, Not Being Spiritually Awakened「무명(無明」, Love「사랑」, Admirating bull「우덕송(牛德頌)」etc. Kim Dong-in depicted many heros and heroine`s of brutality in his works. For example. Potato「감자」, Bear some Resemblance to his Father`s Toe「발가락이 닮았다」, Shoes「구두」, A Marriage Ceremony「결혼식」, Photograph and Letter「사진과 편지」, Woman in the village of Daetangji pond「대탕지 아주머니」, Personal History of Kim yeon-shil 「김연실전」, Punishment by Flogging「태형」. In short, every Korean writer in future have to find the synthetic. creative dimension for surmounting these two extremes. To do this. the creative spirituality of F. Mauriac, G. Vernanos G. Greene. will ve a frame of reference.
