The present study tested the hypothesis that student`s performance on tests of logical thinking are linked with their neuropsychological variables, such as brain hemisphere and information processing pattern. In the theory of brain hemisphere, the left brain are primarily responsible for verbal, sequential, analytic, and executive thinking process and th right brain are primarily related with spatial, simultaneous, wholistic, and intuitive thinking process. Also, the recent studies on information processing have shown that there are specific patterns on human beings` information processing. such as simultaneous or successive, which are presumably related to their ability to solve scientific tasks. Seven hundred and twenty-five students grades 7 through 9 enrolled in several Korean junior high schools were administered the test of logical thinking, hemispheric lateralization , information-processing pattern, and field dependence / independence. As predicted, subjects` performance on the best of logical thinking showed were different scores by neuropsychological variables. IN the results, the right brain-dominants` the field independents` and the more advanced subjects of simultaneous / successive information processing showed better performance scores on the test of logical thinking. Even subjects who were in the same developmental stage of logical thinking showed different performance scores on tests of combi-natorial and conservational thinking by neuropsychological variables. Therefore, the present study indicated that the test of logical thinking. which was based on the theory of Piagetian cognitive development, would have included the variance of neuropsychological variables for being more valid instrument to test students` cognitive characteristics.
