This study aims to identify the effects of many different eyelash beauty arts on substance perception and eyesight because eyelash beauty arts, which have the most critique role of image making of lady"s face makeup, result in not only side-effects but beauty to the eyes.
The tested persons were eight women, four in emmetropia and another four in ametropia among samples of Korean twenty year old women. The most popular individual eyelash extension technique was examined out of many different techniques. The optics theory of light diffraction phenomena of Thomas Young was applied to the test of the individual eyelash extension technique on the theoretical method.
Among those who got the technique in which the individual eyelashes were performed on the natural eyelashes with hair by hair to serve extension, those in the emmetropia showed improvement in substance perception and eyesight. In the three cases of four persons in the emmetropia, an appropriate method was identified to improve eyesight on the interval space between eyelashes and the length of them; it showed that eyesights could be improved if artificial eyelashes kept the interval space of about 0.3㎜ and their length of about 11 to 13㎜ around the apple.
In the cases of ametropia the same techniques were performed into the almost same fashion. Further more studies are necessary, however, because there was little improvement of eyesight.
Moreover, one of the four tested persons had very thin and short(4㎜) eyelashes. Thus, the artificial eyelashes were performed with their length of 9.5 to 13㎜, but the examination after a week showed that the roots of eyelashes were bent sideways and they came off because they couldn"t bear the weight of artificial eyelashes.
One of the four, who got the extension technique and had a xerophthalmia, showed drier eyes, much eye wax and red eyes in a day"s time after a week of test.
The above findings indicate that the interval arrangement of eyelashes in diffraction phenomena of light make the positive and negative images of substance clearer through the diffraction and interference of light. The study also proves that the applied eyelash beauty arts in consideration of human body structure could affect the substance perception and eyesight.
If the eyelash beauty artists consider their customers" eye state, appropriate length, weight and interval space of eyelashes in according to the state of natural eyelashes, they can get rid of those side-effects in conducting the individual eyelash extension techniques.
In summary the eyelash beauty arts made correction of eyelash interval through multiple slits with diffraction phenomena of light and they could make customers see the positive and negative images of substance more distinctly with interference of light on multiple slits. Moreover the study identified the eyelash beauty arts performed upon consideration of eye structure might have on influence on substance perception and eyesight.
