국문 초록

  본 연구의 목적은 분당 구청에 의해 운영되어 온 정신지체 성인을 위한 ‘장애인 희망의 학교’ 지역사회적응 프로그램에 대한 종합적인 평가를 실시하여 효과성을 검증하고, 이 프로그램의 방향성을 재정립하는 데 필요한 근거 자료를 제공하는 것이다 이를 위하여, 본 프로그램에 참여한 장애인의 부모(N＝43) 및 자원봉사자(N＝40)들을 대상으로 그들이 인식하는 프로그램 관련 만족도와 욕구에 대한 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 두 집단 모두에서 장애인의 프로그램 만족도는 비교적 높게 나타났고, 프로그램 참여를 통해 장애인의 능력 및 태도에서 긍정적인 변화가 나타나 그 효과성은 입증되었으나, 프로그램 내용, 운영방법 등과 관련하여 개선되어야 할 점들이 드러났다. 본 연구는 분당 구청 지역사회에 거주하는 성인기 재가 장애인과 그 부모들을 위해 지원해야 할 적절한 재활훈련과 서비스가 무엇인지에 대한 기초 자료를 제공할 수 있었다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

영문 초록

  Since the second semester of the year 2003, the Bundang district office has attempted to support an adult education program for persons with mental retardation(MR). The purpose of this study was to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the adult education program to examine the effects of the program and to provide well-grounded data for re-establishing the direction of the project. For this purpose, 2 samples were selected including 43 parents of persons with mental retardation and 40 volunteers(college students or citizens). Two questionnaires were developed to measure parents" and volunteers" levels of satisfaction and to find our their needs related to the program. The collected data were analyzed utilizing both descriptive (frequencies & percentages) and inferential (t-test & ANOVA) statistics. The results obtained from this study show that the adult education program has been implemented appropriately with a satisfaction of the most of the subjects and with positive changes in the students" skill performance level and attitude toward community adjustment, and thus the attempt made by the local government to support the program appeared to be relatively successful and encouraging. The results also show that there is much to be imptoved with respect to the development of program contents, systematic operating system of community adult education facilities, sufficient training programs for preparing qualified staff, etc. The present study proved significant in the sense that it could explore more effective ways to provide proper post-secondary community-based services for home residents with MR and their parents.
