朝鮮後期 『濂洛風雅』의 수용양상과 그 의미

국문 초록

  『濂洛風雅』는 宋末, 元初 성리학자였던 金履祥(1232~1303)이 1296년에, 宋代 성리학자들의 시를 채집하여 편찬한 시선집이다. 중국에서 편찬된 시선집이기에 무조건적 수용에 대한 문제가 제기될 수 있지만, 16세기 후반에 조선 문단에 전래된 이후 17세기 중엽 이후 박세채가 增刪을 시도함으로써 그 독서와 수용이 매우 주체적으로 이루어졌으므로, 충분한 고찰의 의미가 있다. 더욱이 이 책은 수차례의 공식간행을 통해 매우 광범위한 독서계층을 형성했던 것으로 파악된다. 그러나 조선후기 문단을 주도하며 다양한 흐름을 형성하였던 문학가들에게는 정작 소외되었고, 유가적 이념을 표방하며 성리학을 궁구했던 문인들에게 주요 독서대상이 됨으로써, 문단에 끼친 영향력이 간행 유포 상황에 비해 상대적으로 뚜렷하게 드러나지 않는 한계가 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 조선 후기 문단의 『염락풍아』의 수용이 나름의 의의를 가지는 이유는, 『염락풍아』에 대한 독서 경험과 수용 실상이 성리학의 테두리 안에서 문학 활동을 추구했던 일부 문인들을 주축으로 하나의 범주와 계파성을 형성하고 있기 때문이다.
  『염락풍아』를 애독하며 그것을 본받으려 했던 인물들을 살펴본 결과, 16세기 후반에는 李滉, 李楨, 柳希春, 趙穆, 裵龍吉, 金富倫, 權？ 등이, 17세기에는 趙任道, 尹善道, 李端相, 朴世采, 宋時烈, 吳道一 등이, 18세기에는 李栽, 趙德？, 申益愰, 趙文命, 崔奎瑞, 李象靖, 任聖周, 李光靖, 魏伯珪, 宋煥箕 등이 주목할 만하였다. 이들의 공통적 경향은 기본적으로는 성리학의 학문적 지향에 근거하여 유가적 문학관을 표방했다는 점이다. 이들은 대체로 수식과 조탁을 배격하고 올바른 성정의 자연스러운 표출을 강조하였으며, ‘文章小技’, ‘作文害道’ 등의 논리를 펼치기도 했던 인물들이다.
  주지하다시피, 조선 후기 문단은 시인과 성리학자의 문학이 뚜렷하게 양분되어 있었다. 사실 그 동안 문단의 내재적 발전론에 근거하여 탁월한 문학적 역량으로 다채로운 문학 활동을 전개했던 인물들이 집중 조명되었기에, 성리학자의 문학은 상대적으로 주목받지 못했다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 양자의 문학적 지향이 확연하게 구별되는 가운데 무엇이 주류였던가 하는 접근보다, 우리가 주목해야 할 것은 양자가 공존했다는 사실일 것이다. 염락풍아 의 독서 계층과 실상의 파악은 이러한 측면에서 나름의 의의가 분명하다고 하겠다.

영문 초록

  Problem that some group read mainly a some book and edit a some publication in certain generation has important sense as background of literary activity and point of prescribing the intention. Specially, ‘selection’ has a great influence on literary world to present model of literature and direction of creative writing. For this reason, this manuscript observed chiefly on Reading and intellectual accepting to 『Yeomrakpunga (濂洛風雅)』. 『Yeomrakpunga(濂洛風雅)』 is selection of a poems edited by kim I-sang(金履祥, 1232~1303) in 1296. It cause misunderstanding that accept a selection of poems edited in china without reserve. But this book is worth reading because park se-chae(朴世采, 1631~1695) correct the text in the mid-sixteenth century. besides, this book was published many times and guess to be formed a class of readers widely. But literary men who formed various current in the later Joseon neglected this book. on the other hand, learned men of Sung Confucianism read mainly this book. Accordingly virtual influence on literary world was limited. 『Yeomrakpunga(濂洛風雅)』 can nevertheless be extremely valuable because formed another class with a literary man of Sung Confucianism. It can be the last to overlook this fact that literary intention of them could be the mainstream in those days.
  Literary world in the late Joseon was interested in literature itself. Therefore, famous literary man didn’t study to look deeper the relation between ‘doctrines’ and ‘literature’. Conversely, philosophy was principal study of Sung Confucianism, and a Confucian scholar don’t pay careful attention to literature itself. when compare works of a Confucian scholar with works of a literary man, works of a Confucian scholar wasn’t widely known for these reasons. Through research about each writer, researchers approach continuously to these problem. But problem that what is the mainstream is mixing by difference of their sight. Assuming that it devide literary world of the late Joseon with literature of a poet and a Confucian scholar, this manuscript is written to research literary current in those days through reading and intellectual accepting about 『Yeomrakpunga(濂洛風雅)』. In that 『Yeomrakpunga(濂洛風雅)』 selected not poem of poet but poem of a Confucian scholar, literary world was indifferent to 『Yeomrakpunga(濂洛風雅)』 in spite of publishing widely. Scholars of Sung Confucianism only read ‘selection’ with pleasure for the sole reason that realize the object of human nature and natural laws.
  According to the number of issues and supplies, those people read this book not specially but generally. Therefore it didn"t have effect on the activity of outstanding writers of literary world, It didn"t have also effect on reading and compilation about selection of the late Joseon. But it may give the meaning in that reading and accepting to 『Yeomrakpunga(濂洛風雅)』 made distinguished class of Confucian scholar.
