한국 초등교육의 학력(學歷) 자본화에 대한 사회학적 고찰

국문 초록

  초등교육은 인지적ㆍ정서적인 균형적 발전을 도모하기 위한 기초ㆍ보통 교육의 성격을 가지고 있다. 한국의 초등교육은 과중한 과외 부담으로 인해 아동들의 건전한 발전을 저해하고 있다. 아울러 조기교육, 조기유학, 기러기 아빠와 같은 탈한국화 현상을 촉진하고 있다. 이런 현상은 사회적 표현과 정도의 차이가 있지만 역사적으로 끊임없이 제기된 문제이며, 교육을 사회적 신분 상승의 도구로 이용한 교육적 부작용이다. 특히 현대사회에서 학력은 신분적 구별짓기의 강력한 자본으로 이용되고 있다. 사회적 신분 은 학력 자본의 축적 정도에 의존하기 때문이다. 한국의 초등교육은 학력 자본을 축적하기 위한 예비 경쟁지대로 변모하고 있다. 사회적 신분을 획득하기 위한 학력 자본화 경쟁은 대학입시를 중심으로 고등학교에서 중학교로, 중학교에서 초등학교로 파급되어, 학력의 도미노 경쟁을 발생시키고 있다. 초등학생들은 어른들의 사회 경쟁 논리에 의해 일찍부터 학력 자본화 경쟁의 굴레에 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 결국 초등교육의 학력 자본화 경쟁은 공교육을 저해하고, 교육의 탈한국화 현상을 촉진하는 교육적 악순환의 원인으로 작용하고 있다.

영문 초록

  The elementary education have the trait of basic and general education to work for the intellectual and emotional balanced development. On the contrary the korean elementary education hinders the children" growth because of the heavy out-of-school studies. In addition, it urges on the leaving korea condition such as the early education, the early studying abroad, and Kiruki-father("wild goose" fathers). This present condition have historically proposed as problem, of course, it has difference in the social expression and the level and been the educational side effect using the education as the instrument of status ascension. the school career in modern society is used as the strong capital of status graduation. The social status capital depends on the level of accumulation of the school career capitalization. The korean elementary education is changing to the preliminary competition to accumulate the school career capital. The the school career competition for obtaining the better status results in a domino competition from the elementary to the middle school, to high school. The elementary children have not got out of competition for obtaining the school career capital by the logic of parents" competition. In conclusion, the competition for the school career capitalization impedes the public education and affects the educational vicious cycle to accelerate the leaving korea condition.
