국문 초록

  이 논문은 우선 스라파 자신의 ‘가격역전’ 논의에 대한 정확한 해석을 제공한 후, ‘가격역전’이 오스트리아 자본이론과 신고전파 가격이론에 대하여 갖는 파괴적 함의를 논한다. 또 이 논문은 마르크스주의 경제학에서 불변자본이 생산방법의 표현으로서 역할을 훌륭히 수행하지만, 이윤율 표현의 분모로서의 역할은 수행하지 못함을 강조한다. 그리고 이 실패와 ‘가격역전’이 긴밀한 관계에 있음을 보인다. 실제로 ‘가격역전’이 어떤 이론에서든 하나의 양으로서 ‘자본’이 위의 두 역할을 동시에 수행할 수 없음을 증명하는 것이다. 이 의미에서 ‘가격역전’이 마르크스주의 경제학의 투하노동가치설에 대해서도 오스트리아 이론이나 신고전파 이론에 대해서와 동일한 파괴적 비판을 가한다.

영문 초록

  This paper provides the correct interpretation of Sraffa"s concept of ‘price reversal’; then, we discuss destructive implications of ‘price reversal’ for the Austrian theory of capital and the neoclassical theory of price. We also advance an argument that constant capital (in conjunction with living labour) in Marxian economics carries out its role of representing a method of production successfully, if only imperfectly, and that nonetheless it fails to accomplish its role as the denominator of the rate of profits. It is argued that behind this failure lies the phenomenon of ‘price reversal’: ‘price reversal’ is indeed a proof that ‘capital’― as a single quantity, in any form in any theory―cannot fulfill both of the two roles just-mentioned. In this sense, ‘price reversal’ has fatal implications for the embodied labour theory of value no less than for the Austrian and the neoclassical theories of value and distribution.
