국문 초록

본 연구는 저시력 학생의 큰글자와 확대경을 사용하여 보통글자 읽을 때의 읽기 효율성을 비교하기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위하여 B 맹학교 중학부에 재학하고 있는 저시력 학생 4명을 대상으로 읽기검사를 실시하고 큰글자와 확대경을 사용하여 보통글자를 읽을 때의 읽기속도, 읽기 정확성, 읽기 이해도, 읽기 지속성의 차이를 비교하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 읽기속도는 저시력 학생의 시력과 읽기 특성에 따라 문자매체에 따른 읽기 속도가 달랐다. 둘째, 확대경을 사용하여 보통글자를 읽을 때 큰글자를 읽을 때 보다 읽기 정확성이 높았다. 셋째, 확대경을 사용하여 보통글자를 읽을 때 큰글자를 읽을 때 보다 읽기 이해도가 같거나 높았다. 넷째, 확대경을 사용하여 보통글자를 읽을 때 큰글자를 읽을 때 보다 읽기 지속성이 높았다. 이러한 연구결과로 저시력 학생의 시력과 읽기 특성에 따라 문자매체에 따른 읽기 효율성이 다양하게 나타나며 지속적인 확대경 사용은 저시력 학생의 읽기 효율성 증진에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 밝혔다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to define the reading efficiency with which students with low vision read large print and regular print using magnifier, by measuring the reading speed, reading accuracy, reading comprehension, and reading duration. The study required four students with low vision in a middle school for the blind to read test. For reading tests the passages from novels chosen by the students were presented both in large print and regular print. These tests were conducted every other day to require students to read in large print, and in regular print with magnifier to measure and compare the reading speed, reading accuracy, reading comprehension and reading duration. After three weeks from reading, reading tests were given to the students to evaluate their reading efficiency. The study came up with the following conclusions. First, when reading regular print with magnifier, the students reading speed varied according to the students' vision and reading characteristics. Second, the students read with more accuracy using magnifier in the case of regular print than in the case of large print. Third, when using magnifier, the students read longer in the case of regular print than in the case of large print. When comparing the reading efficiency between large print and regular print with magnifier, it found that the reading efficiency with magnifier and regular print was higher than that of large print, and that the continuous use of a magnifier had positive effects on enhancing reading efficiency of students with low vision.
