This study is concerned with the activation of the teaching of Korean as a foreign language. The Korean Wave fever, a boom in Korean culture, which has been high recently in Japan, China, and South East Asia, has the side effect of increasing the number of learners of the Korean language by enhancing the image of Korea, the Korean people, and the language. This study analyzed comprehensively how Korean pop culture is accepted by Japan and China in which the Korean Wave fever is high through questionnaires, interviews, and data from the press. In addition, it aimed to activate the learning of the Korean language as a foreign language by conducting research on learning motivation related to the learning of the language, learning goal, learning materials, difficulties in learning, and the degree of satisfaction with the selection of the language and then by suggesting steps to the resultant problems. This paper concludes that systematic and consistent measures for using the Korean Wave should be taken since the wave is very positively and favorably accepted by other contries and contributes to the expansion of the demand for the learning of the Korean language.
