영문 초록

This study aims at anlyzing aspects of Buddist nuns and literary functions of which they take charge in the works. There are various types of Buddist nuns in the classical novels, transcendental Buddist nun, Buddist nun of renouncing the world, secular Buddist nun and depraved Buddist nun as so on. Like this, the appearance of various Buddist nuns show us that the width of utilzing Buddist nun has been much broad in calssical novels. The Buddist nun in the classical novels displays the function that help a event to be proceeded smoothly, take charge of the function that gives rise to the reader's concern. In addition, the Buddist nun embodies a Buddist-saint's woman image in the classical novels, too. Likewise, because we can't ignore the character of Buddist nun in the classical novels, the concern about this character should must be enlarged.
