영문 초록

The liability of carrier is always one of the most important topics in the law of carriage of goods. Before the conclusion of the Hague Rules, carrier's liability regime derived from Roman law governed the carriage of goods by sea in the western world. The Harter Act was essentially a compromise between the conflicting interesting interest of carriers and shippers. The Hague Rules established minimum immunities obligations of the carrier, the carrier's maximum immunities, and the limit of his liability. The Hamburg Rules abolished the catalogue of exceptions and the exception covering negligence in the navigation or management of the ship contained in the Hague Rules.
