영문 초록

Within the last ten years sustainability hasn't spread in the manner it has been expected at the conference in Rio. It is not quite sure yet, if it has already had it's prime time or if it needs such a long time for acquiring general acceptance. This latter opinion is supported by the fact that the EU has worked out new strategies towards sustainable developement, among them that of integrated product policy (IPP). It is based on a product oriented view of environmental policy. which seem to be very interesting for commodity science. The concept of IPP is briefly outlined in this paper and some perspectives for commodity research are discussed.
