The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between mothers' schooling participation, their self-esteem and childrearing attitudes. Questionnaire data from a sample of 400 mothers with kindergartners and 400 mothers with a first or second grade children of elementary school in Incheon City were used. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, r-rem, and Pearson's correlation. The results were as follows: First, among five types of mothers' schooling participation, participation as a supporter was the most active one, and participation as a tutor and as a decision-maker followed in sequence. On the other hand, participation as a volunteer and as a teacher's assistant was low. The results also showed that mothers' self esteem was high, and mothers' childrearing attitudes were amiable in general. Second, mothers' schooling participation were positively related to their self-esteem and amiable childrearing attitudes. Mothers' schooling participation increases their self esteem and positive childrearing attitude.
